Winter Seminar

Event Date:
Monday, January 21, 2019 - 6:15pm
Saturday, January 26, 2019 - 10:00am

Paul, Prison and the Justice of God will be the topic of our winter seminar presented by Dr. Ryan Schellenberg, Assistant Professor of New Testament at MTSO. Please RSVP by January 15 for meals and childcare (through 5th grade).

The United States incarcerates more people than any other country in the world, with devastating consequences not only for those who are imprisoned, but also for their families and communities, especially communities of color. Although far fewer people were locked up, the experience of imprisonment was formative for ancient Christians too, shaping how early believers thought about suffering, justice, and care for the vulnerable.

Join us as we explore how early Christian responses to imprisonment, including Paul’s letters from prison, might inform a faithful response to the modern crisis of mass incarceration.
