Mennonite Youth Fellowship (MYF)

Our MYF (Mennonite Youth Fellowship) is made up of youth in grades 9-12. They meet twice a month for fun & fellowship and for service. Volunteer youth sponsors plan activities and provide leadership to the program.

Our youth do various projects to raise funds to attend a Mennonite Youth Convention every other year and a service project the alternating year. In the summer of 2006, 2008, and 2010 our youth served for a week with SWAP in Kentucky. The youth group has attended the Mennonite Youth Convention in Nashville, TN; Charlotte, NC; San Jose, CA; and here in Columbus. In the summer of 2011 they will travel to Pittsburgh, PA.

Our youth have served at Agora Ministries and at the YWCA Family Center. They serve alongside other adults from our church in other ways as well. Some of our youth also participated in an intergenerational service trip to Montana de Luz in Honduras. A third trip is anticipated once the political situation in Honduras has stabilized.

The youth from CMC have continued to serve across the U.S. and on every continent (except Australia) during and after their attendance at college. This speaks to the support and witness that they have experienced here at Columbus Mennonite Church.

Each youth has the opportunity to participate in our mentoring program which pairs a youth with another adult in the congregation.
