Mennonite Youth Fellowship
(MYF)
Our
MYF (Mennonite Youth Fellowship) is made up of youth in grades 9-12. They
meet twice a month for fun & fellowship and for service.
Volunteer youth sponsors plan activities and provide
leadership to the program.
The youth do various projects to raise funds
to attend a Mennonite Youth Convention every other year and a service
project the alternating year. In 2006 and 2008, our youth served with
SWAP in Kentucky. A third service
trip is planned for July, 2010. The
youth group has attended the Mennonite Youth Convention in Charlotte, NC,
San Jose, CA, and here in Columbus. In 2011 they will travel to
Pittsburgh, PA.
Some of our youth
also participated in an intergenerational service trip to
Montana de Luz in Honduras. A
third trip is anticipated once the political situation in Honduras has
stabilized.
Each youth has the opportunity to participate
in our mentoring program which pairs a youth with another adult in the
congregation.
